What is an X-Ray?
An X-ray is an imaging test that a medical professional uses to diagnose a condition or an injury. It’s non-invasive and requires you to sit, stand, or lie still for a short time while the machine uses a small dose of radiation to take a picture of the affected area.
X-rays show fractures and dislocations. An X-ray can also be used to detect issues with internal organs. This is called a chest X-ray and helps a clinician see how well organs like your lungs and heart are working.
Does vybe urgent care Do X-Rays?
Yes! vybe urgent care offers X-ray services at all of our locations. If you think you have an injury or condition that requires an X-ray, a licensed clinician will evaluate your injury or condition and determine if an X-ray is necessary. If the clinician recommends an X-ray, you may obtain an X-ray immediately at the current location (if available), or we will refer you to a nearby location with same-day availability. Patients also have the choice to return the following day to any vybe location with X-ray available.
Once complete, we’ll provide you a link with a copy of your images and can share them electronically with another provider or specialist at your request. Please note that we cannot accept radiology orders from outside vybe.
What conditions can an X-Ray diagnose at urgent care?
vybe urgent care is equipped to image and diagnose a wide range of injuries and concerns. Whether you’ve rolled an ankle or woken up with chest tightness, vybe’s on-site X-ray means that if your provider recommends imaging, you can get same or next day answers at any vybe location (if available).
Some of the most common conditions we can image include:
- Fractures: Broken bones in the hand, wrist, foot, ankle, and other areas
- Dislocations: Joints that have shifted out of their normal position
- Sprains and soft tissue injuries: Imaging can help rule out a fracture when a sprain is suspected
- Chest symptoms: Persistent cough, shortness of breath, or chest pain may call for a chest X-ray to evaluate the lungs and heart
- Foreign body detection: If something has been ingested or embedded in tissue, an X-ray can help locate it
For fractures and musculoskeletal injuries, visit our fractures and orthopedic urgent care page for more details on how vybe handles those visits.
If you are experiencing severe or life-threatening symptoms — such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or severe trauma — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
How much do X-Rays cost with insurance?
The cost of an office visit with an X-ray will vary depending on your insurance plan. vybe does not offer standalone X-ray services for those paying with insurance and an office visit is required. Please contact your health insurance provider to answer questions about your coverage, deductible, or co-pay. Don’t have insurance? vybe offers transparent self-pay rates so you always know what to expect before you’re seen.
How long do X-Ray results take?
X-ray procedures usually last less than 15 minutes. In most cases, results are available for initial review before you leave. In some cases, complex imaging may require additional review by a radiologist, which can take extra time — your care team will let you know if this applies to you.
Who reads X-Rays at urgent care?
A Radiologic Technologist (RT) or a board-certified Limited X-ray Machine Operator (LXMO) will perform your X-ray and provide the results to a radiologist who will review and corroborate the findings with your clinician. Your provider will review results with you directly before you leave, so you understand your diagnosis and next steps before heading home. If you need to share your results with a specialist or another provider, our team can help coordinate that because your care shouldn’t stop at our door.
Do I need an appointment for an X-Ray at urgent care?
No, vybe urgent care welcomes walk-ins at all of our locations with no appointment necessary. That said, if you’d prefer to plan ahead, online appointments are available so you can choose a time that works for you and skip the wait. Either way, our doors are open, and our team is ready to see you.
