Peter Hotz’s Healthy vybe

A chat with Peter Hotz, vybe president:

Why did you decide to work in healthcare?

I’ve always enjoyed solving business challenges and building businesses that can do good while also being good. Healthcare has always been a dynamic business with lots of opportunities for innovation. I also love working with and supporting clinicians and caregivers as I appreciate the sacrifices they make to take care of others.

What do you like most about working at vybe?

I love the fact that we are bringing accessible, affordable healthcare to the residents of Philadelphia – many of whom don’t have other options for care. I believe that one of the mostimportant things we can do as a country to manage healthcare costs is to try to teach people to be more healthy and address their health issues before they become chronic. Ensuring access to high-quality care is an important step in doing this.

What’s your favorite area of Philadelphia?

I live in the western suburbs and I love to drive into and out of the city along Kelly Drive. There’s always people running and cycling and tons of crew teams out on the river.

What’s your favorite Philly sports team or event?

I grew up in Boston and am a proud Patriots fan, but I have also become an Eagles fan – I love the passion that the city feels for the team.

What’s your favorite workout song?

My workout playlist is a mix of 70s classic rock and mor e current music (that I typically learn about from my daughters). One song that gets me moving is Thunder Clatter by Wild Cub.

What’s on your bucket list?

I’ve always wanted to visit all 50 states in the U.S. I’ve been stuck on 49 for a long time – Alaska is the only state that I haven’t visited so I’m eager to get there.

What show do you binge-watch?

I’m a big fan of Game of Thrones and Homeland.

What’s your most helpful health tip?

I try to eat a big meal in the morning and taper off as the day goes on. I especially try to avoid eating anything after dinner.

How do you find your vybe? (How do you stay healthy?)

I typically start my day with a smoothie full of fruits and veggies. I try to make a yoga class once a week – I find it to be challenging and relaxing at the same time. And I’m a big believer in the benefits of a glass of red wine with dinner!
