A chat with Nicole Werner, vybe director of operations:
Why did you decide to work in healthcare?
I started my career in management consulting and learned how to break complex problems into manageable pieces. Healthcare is ever evolving with so many opportunities to improve what we have and also innovate for the future – which I find exciting to be a part of!
What do you like most about working at vybe?
I love that we aspire to be something different in the healthcare space – for our patients in Philadelphia and for the people who work at vybe. Being a person who provides clinical care is a challenging career and I like that we are making vybe a special place for our team to work.
What’s your favorite area of Philadelphia?
I spend one weeknight and every weekend I can in the trails of the Wissahickon Park. It’s well maintained by the Friends of the Wissahickon and is a natural playground.
What’s your favorite Philly sports team or event?
Villanova Wildcats. My husband is a graduate and I’ve come to appreciate his zeal for college basketball. We have re-watched the final seconds of the 2016 championship game many times!

What’s your favorite workout song?
I’m a Spotify junkie and create playlists for the type of workout I do. When I need a running boost my go to is Florence + The Machine.
What’s on your bucket list?
I love the mountains and want to explore the Alps with my family. I also want to run a 100-mile trail race with my best running friend, Michelle.
What show do you binge-watch?
I’ve been watching the Young and the Restless soap opera for 20+ years.
What’s your most helpful health tip?
I completed Penn Medicine’s mindfulness course and came away with a very simple exercise called “stop, breathe, be”. It is a discipline of taking a few short moments each day just to stop and be in the moment, notice what is happening, and then move on. You might want to incorporate it into your daily work by, for example, stopping for a moment just before you meet with someone or walk in your house after work, take a breath, wait a second and allow yourself to clear your mind so that you can just be with the person or activity.
How do you find your vybe? (How do you stay healthy?)
I’m an avid trail runner. I love to be out in the woods – running with my girlfriends and hiking with my family. We find new trails to explore, appreciate the beauty around us in all seasons, and are grateful that we are healthy to spend time together.
