Patrick Oleskey’s Healthy vybe

Patrick Oleskey works as the Center Manager at both vybe urgent care’s Port Richmond and South Broad Street locations. Patrick knows that working at a place like vybe is always all about the people that you get to serve.

We could tell you all about Patrick’s love for biking and West Wing, but we’ll let you get to know him firsthand:

Why did you decide to work in healthcare?

As a clinically trained social worker, I’ve always been fascinated by the link between our mental and physical health. I knew early on in my career that I wanted to branch out from working in community mental health to a broader holistic setting. vybe offers me that opportunity while still keeping me connected to the larger community.

What do you like most about working at vybe?

It’s all about the people. Working at a place where everyone is highly skilled, highly motivated to provide good care, and are just all around nice people makes coming into work a joy. vybe just has nice people all throughout the company. It is a great culture here at vybe.

What’s your favorite area of Philadelphia?

I love biking up and down the Schuylkill River through Fairmount Park. It makes city life much more relaxing when you have access to truly beautiful parks and green space in your neighborhoods. I cannot wait for the new Viaduct Rail Park to open. Similar parks in NYC and Paris have been huge successes.

What’s your favorite Philly sports team or event?

I love going to the Philadelphia Flower Show every year. I have a little tradition where I will grab lunch at the Reading Terminal Market and then spend the afternoon wandering around the show.

What’s your favorite workout song?

I am a big classic rock guy so Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd are always on my workout lists. It is hard to narrow it down to just one song but these groups are great to get you pumped up for a big workout.

What’s on your bucket list?

I would love to be able to move out into the country a bit and start a dog rescue. I’ve had dogs my whole life and I would love to be able give back even a fraction of the joy and happiness that dogs have given me over the years.

What show do you binge-watch?

I can watch the West Wing over and over again. Even after being off the air for a decade many of the storylines remain relevant and compelling. That combines with top notch acting makes the show very watchable.

What’s your most helpful health tip?

Make sure you get up and move every day. Even if it is just walking around your neighborhood for 30 minutes commit yourself to exercising every day. Not only will your body feel better but it will also help keep your mood up.

How do you find your vybe? (How do you stay healthy?)

My two big vybes are biking and hiking. I do the MS150 City to Shore ride every year so I need to get a lot of training miles in so I don’t tire out during that long ride. I’ll usually get on the Schuylkill Trail in Manayunk or Conshohocken and bike back and forth between the City and Phoenixville. Being able to bike that far without having to share the road with cars is a real treat. I also love hiking with my dog Summer. She has tons of energy so I need to exercise her a lot or she drives me crazy. She is a great hiking partner though. Always up for a challenging new trail.
