Secrets to a Super Safe and Healthy Super Bowl Party

Super Bowl LIII is just around the corner, and although the Philadelphia Eagles won’t be back to reclaim their title as champs, there’s still plenty of reason to tune in this weekend for the big game.

Whether you’re hosting the gathering or just showing up with chips and dip, vybe urgent care has some friendly tips on how to safely enjoy Sunday’s festivities. No matter who you’re rooting for, Rams or Pats, it’s important to party responsibly.

Snacks on Snacks on Snacks

Wings and pizza are plentiful at Super Bowl parties and can be pretty hard to resist. At vybe, we’re proponents of making sure there are healthy options available, too.

For example, veggie platters are tasty, healthy and can still fill you with all the right nutrients and calories. Problem is, they just don’t seem as much fun as potato skins or loaded nachos. So, try mixing the healthy snack with a little indulgence – perhaps a dip or some hummus and pita. With more enticing options on the platter, your party guests might just find themselves unable to resist some of the healthy options. Of course, indulging in a few greasy snacks or two is inevitable, and that’s okay. Just be mindful of what you’re eating—if you think you’ve got food poisoning or something more serious, vybe urgent care is here to help.

Celebrate Safely

We’ve all seen our fair share of touchdown dances and celebrations—it’s part of what makes the game so lively. It’s all fun and games until someone attempts a cartwheel and ends up with a sprained ankle. Ouch! Luckily, vybe can help with that.

Instead of trying to lift your friend into the air, or hoist your sofa over your head, leave it to the professionals to pull out the fancy moves on the field. A high five should do just fine!

Balance Out Your Beers

There’s a big chance that the gathering you’ll attend will have alcohol available. It’s easy to get carried away, especially when there’s a few hours of game to watch.

Our advice is to pace yourself, but sometimes that’s easier said than done! A good best practice is to limit your alcoholic drinks to one per hour and try to drink plenty of water between drinks. You should also make sure you eat before and during your alcohol consumption. Remember that drinking on a full stomach will only delay the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream, not prevent it. Eating before you drink is not a defense against getting drunk.

The best defense is a good offense – plan ahead for how many drinks you want to have and when you want your last drink to be.  This is crucial if you plan to drive home. As always, should the party get a little too rowdy, you know where to find us.

Plan Your Route

It goes without saying that if you’re planning on drinking during the big game, you should plan a safe and reliable way to get to and from the festivities. Whether that be utilizing public transportation, rideshare platforms, or carpooling with a DD, it’s important to have a game plan.

Even walking can be a good option but be careful of snow and ice! If you find yourself injured from a slip and fall or other minor injuries, head to any of our locations to be seen urgently and treated kindly.

No matter where you’re watching, or who you’re rooting for, the Superbowl is about gathering with friends and having fun! Be safe, and stop by any of our locations if you need medical attention, or even just for a seasonal flu shot—you’ll feel better as soon as you walk in!
