Karen Gambrell’s Healthy vybe

A chat with Karen Gambrell:

vybe urgent care Center Manager Karen Gambrell loves the Italian Market, spending time with her kids and – last but not least – the gratification of getting to see patients helped every single day here at work.

Get to know her:

Why did you decide to work in healthcare?

I was looking for a fast-paced environment where I would be able to make a substantial connection with people. Healthcare provided the avenue to instant gratification seeing patients leave feeling better than when they came in. Being a part of that is a feeling that cannot be duplicated.

What do you like most about working at vybe?

The opportunity to see team members succeeding in doing what they love.

What’s your favorite area of Philadelphia?

I really love the Italian Market. The atmosphere and energy of the different vendors, plus the variety of fresh produce and meats. The ownership and love that is put into the stands is palpable.

What’s on your bucket list?

To learn another language with my youngest child. Perhaps Spanish or Japanese, and then take a trip where we can put it to use!

What show(s) do you binge-watch?

I don’t watch a ton of television, but I do get entrapped in the HBO series INSECURE. It took up a whole Saturday.

What’s your most helpful health tip?

I’m a big fan of rest and hydration. I was once advised the proper amount of water intake per day is half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. It stuck with me, and I live by it now.

How do you find your healthy vybe?

I try to stay active with my children. You’ll find us biking the Wissahickon trail, jumping our sillies out at Skyzone, or having a competitive family game of 2 on 2 basketball in the driveway.
